Region: England
What happened to are old forum?
There is an old forum? Sure it still exist. If it does we would have a base to develop.
It would be good if we can use the base of an old forum, make it easily accessible around here, and it might just be the swaying factor for people deciding whether to join us or not (or stay). So as Oxfordshire said growing the region should be a priority and active forums like the proposed one might just do that.
The old forum exists somewhere, it's just not on the factbook entry anymore.
Is this the old forum? May need some revitalizing if so.
http://z15.invisionfree.com/Democratic_England/index.php?
I know there was a forum. Not sure what or where. As an old romantic, I prefer the idea of everything taking place one nationstates rather than on a separate forum, but if it is the will of the people, I can hardly stand in the way. I like the idea of regional football.
Just a heads up. I'm not neglecting the region if I appear quiet over the next 3 weeks. I have law school exams, and they're a bitch.
I don't see a problem with everything taking place on here, I just searched out the forum when it was mentioned, and I feel your pain, I have final year uni exams in the near future.
Yes that is the old forum I remember it.
Morekai will begin preparing its athletes immediately! Of sixteen billion people, this will be one damned good team.
I'll join.
where is it?
What are you doing.
If you are talking about why Morekai is getting athletes ready I am offering to run a regional football tournament and anybody interested can send me a list of 11 players.
The Wilkosaurous rex Football Team has been assembled!
1 entry into the football tournament secured, 3 more spaces left for the test event and one more team needed for an exhibition game to take place!
I'll join? Where do I go? How do you make teams?
Observant a leader as I am, I've just noticed Laversia has the Owls' logo as its flag. Congrats on promotion squire!
Elstorm to join just send me a team of 11 players (manager too if possible). And Oxfordshire, cheers pal, get yourself entered into the tournement, sort of needing numbers atm.
How do i do the states and stuff?
or do I just put names?
I just put names and who was my manager-be as creative as possible!
Can you give me a link to the place.
Just telegram the team to Laversia
Ok thanks
Behold my mighty influence!

A classy performance saw the Wilkosaurous Rex football team confirm their status as number one seeds heading into this years England Regional Finals. Despite the wet conditions passing was sleek and stylish from Rex with South Oxfordshire struggling to keep hold of the ball in many key areas. The 5-1 scoreline was a little harsh on Oxfordshire, who had the first chance of the game with Torres' effort heading just over the bar after only 70 seconds of play. It was Rex however that took the lead through star striker Robin Van Proteceratops' finely placed chip over Oxfordshire Goalkeeper Reina who had little chance of stopping the effort. The game was then quite even for the next 30 minutes until Walkersaurous broke from the right side to unleash an unstoppable effort with his left foot. Soon after the game was put to bed with Brontosaurous getting onto the end of a Silvisaurous cut back from the by-line to finish neatly. The Second half started slowly but it was the class of Proteceratops that shone through once more, with a tidy finish inside the 18 yard box. Soon after Oxfordshire had something to celebrate with a fine individual effort, passing 2 or 3 players on the way to goal before rounding the keeper. With the end of the match in sight a corner won by Proteceratops and taken by him too, found its way onto the head of Kakuru who finished neatly. Both managers will be looking at this result closely for different reasons, South Oxfordshire hoping they can pick themselves up for the Regionals.
Typical Torres...
Typical Robin Van Proteceratops!
The nation of Wilkosaurous Rex looks forward to the Regional Tournament with anticipation!
However, the Rex's Manager, Alan Philovenator, downplayed the win stating that the situation and the stakes would be higher in the coming tournament games...
South Oxfordshire laments a poor refereeing performance, and recognises the excellent individual performance from Dan Agger. Manager Kenny Dalglish could be heard after the game saying he feels his job will be under pressure if South Oxfordshire takes its woeful pre-season form into the upcoming regional tournament. He did however tip his team for title glory, noting the recent long spell on the sidelines for Lucas, and the continuing improvements in the partnership of Suarez and Torres.
After today's successful match more games will be organised when more countries confirm entries
The merchannas irons are assembled.
Four entries into the regional tournament now, the games will commence in the next week or so, entries are still allowed but get them in quick.
Looking forward to the Stade de Chipping Norton hlding it's first competitive game
So, South Oxfordshire; as our regional delegate I would like to ask you a question. Do you vote against every resolution out of neglect, out of spite; or do you actually take some time to read the proposals? Because frankly, you have voted against resolutions the last 7 out of 9 times; against may resolutions that received an 80% or above in approval rate. Care to explain.
Yours Truly, the man who wants to get our region talking again,
Sir Matthew J. Cross
I strongly deny the false and insulting notion that I do not read WA proposals before voting on them. I am democratically elected by the member states of this region and take this position very seriously.
My position on WA proposals is this: I do not agree with enacting unnecessary international laws just because they seem to have good intentions.
International laws, once enacted, are in effect in all WA states, whether those states like it or not. This includes my nation, and therefore I would not accept a law which had good intentions if it included some parts I was not happy with.
Furthermore, the majority of WA nations (and nations generally) in NationStates are left of centre in terms of political ideology. Therefore the majority of proposals and resolutions at vote in the WA are "socially minded" (and thus economically damaging, with the view that we should all be sacrificing our economic sovereignty for the sake of civil rights, welfare and equality). This conflicts directly with not just the political ideology of my nation, but many other very established, well supported and active member states of England, such as Hirota and Morekai.
I hope this has answered your concerns. We should not be routinely voting through laws which detract from our own state sovereignty.
Well said Oxfordshire! I hope for you to remain our glorious leader for years to come!
That has always been an annoyance for me. I read half of these resolutions and quite frankly think "what's the point?".
A bunch of leaf-blowers and a lot of hot air, I say.
Couldn't put it better myself. And many thanks Swansea
I wouldn't place myself in the NatSov camp. In fact I've campaigned, drafted and authored resolutions which National Soverignists have opposed - for example Rights of Indigenous Peoples back in 2005 gave indigenous peoples the right to their own economic identity within Member State borders. I often used to cross swords with some of the NatSov proponents on the WA floor.
If anything, I'm an international federalist, but I've mellowed in my old age ^_^ Nowadays I'll just pick the occasional debate to get involved in. But generally I'm in favour of promoting fundamental rights over economic policies...and my economy hasn't suffered for it in the past.
@Matryn - if you really are opposed to the methods Oxfordshire employs to vote, then don't endorse him. In the past we used to have the Delegate bound by the vote on the forums, but since that fell by the wayside (and nobody had interest in participating when I was interim delegate and tried to revive the practice on the England boards), then the delegate is free to vote how they desire.
In the past, I've actually temporarily withdrawn my endorsement of the delegate if they have voted differently to me on an issue I found important - because my endorsement gives them an extra vote, which nullifies my vote in the opposite direction. So I removed my endorsement till the proposal passed/failed, then re-endorsed. Back then we had an active founder, so it was less of an issue.
I don't wish to be misunderstood. Hirota I was merely pointing out not that you are "in the NatSov camp", as you put it, merely that you are a capitalist state, and left wing international laws don't neessarily align with that ideology.
I must stress I'm fine surrendering sovereignty on issues I believe are a benefit to myself, and to the region and the world.
As for the most recent resolution, I am in favour of rendition in extreme circumstances, and would not want to be bound by international law in this way.
DOWN WITH ENGLAND!!!!
Watch it Elstorm. Be nice
Controversial....
Too many fruit-loops on his cereal that morning.
Very Well done Mr. Oxfordshire; And look, people have been responding. It is this kind of action that will help grown and foster a proud England!
Ah I'm just jokeing around
After concerns over the transparency of my dealings on behalf of the region in the WA, I will make an effort from now on to explain my decision behind every vote I make on any proposal, right here on the regional message board.
The current resolution at vote, Double Jeopardy Prohibition, is the second resolution of its type in recent weeks. I do not believe this new resolution addresses the issues with the first one, which lasted a miniscule amount of time. However, in principle I am in favour of the proposal. That said, the number of for/against votes means this resolution (for now, until it is no doubt repealed again in the near future and redrafted) will pass without too much opposition. I will therefore be abstaining from this particular poll.
I wanted to share my views in this arena for the reasons of transparency I have already mentioned, but also to assure member states of England that I am not slacking in my duties as delegate.
Appreciate the transparency SO :)
I think a number of nations are voting against because of Quelesh's disregard for proposed improvements, and I am led to understand there is a pretty substantial campaign being sent out against this proposal.
I realise my message was extremely misleading. The current proposal will fail spectacularly, then be redrafted and re-proposed. Whether this is by the same author or another remains to be seen.
"Preventing Multiple Trials" is already up for vote once this one sinks. So if that passes, that'll be the end of it!
As a lawyer, I won't vote in favour of any of these unless I see a clear exception for new, real and admissible evidence
No longer a crumbling Eurozone State! I've taken my economy from 85% to 96% in a week, while cutting tax by 2 thirds! Bring on the Deutsche Marks!
Beers on you then!
Sweet!!!
You know SO, if you wanted to assist in the composition of a proposal which does a decent job on this, I am more than willing to run with it. Your expertise would certainly help.
I'll consider it after my exam next Tuesday. No time for drafting WA resolutions at the moment, but its definitely something we should look at
Seems I have a long way to go in rescuing my nation. I'm classed as a Capitalist paradise, but apparently private enterprise is illegal, and my nation is remarkable for its anti-business politics. Bizarre
I have approved the proposal at vote. If we think we can do it better, I will petition for it to be repealed and we can write our own version.
Great Idea. I can also help once my exams are done.
an I reading this right oxfordshire are going to vote yes in order to then argue that it should be repealed. That doesnt make sense. As you put it before we need to keep on the recruitment into the region so when we do make a sensible suggestion on a vote it means more than the 10 votes right now

Just to be clear, I have not said we will rewrite this resolution. I said we could look at it and see if we want to. The resolution at vote will pass by a landslide with or without my approval
Is any of you on this?

If not come and subport my team would be great.
South Oxfordshire extends its commiserations to fans of Blackpool today, but wishes luck to Chelsea in their quest to beat ze Germans this evening in Munich. Club affiliations aside, England has a team in the biggest game in club football, and our citizens will be right behind the boys in blue.
To echo our esteemed delegate, congrats to Chelsea!
Champions of the world.
Truly Epic
***WA UPDATE***
My most recent decision in the WA does not really take much explaining. Free trade is crucial to prosperity. Prosperity breeds happiness.
greetings comrades
Greetings .spongebob utopia welcome to england
Greetings too from your delegate! A warm welcome to our great realm
Hi Welcome to England!
***WA UPDATE***
My latest decision in the WA on behalf of the region is to vote in favour of sustainable fishing. Sustainability is a difficult science, but easy steps such as this can be taken in pursuit of it, and I am fully in support.
Nothing interest seems to ceach my interest right now.
Anyone won't to start a war against a reign of equal size?
We still have thw football tornament. I do remember hwowever that a united kingdon region was attack by a 3rd riech movement they could be attacked
A Euros fantasy football league could also be set up for those interested? Or I could set up cricket tournament through stickcricket? Opinions?
Hello there! True Englishman here!
The Kingdom of Merchannas wheres the thread.
Welcome Manchester!
The question is will Eden Hazard go to Manchester United or Manchester City (or Chelsea I suppose)?
Hazard will go to Chelsea. Why? because I believe in the power of magic, so anything's possible!
Your existence of magic may well have just been verified!
That will be some nice support for Torres, indeeeed.
***WA UPDATE***
Firstly, I'm sure many nations within this region are aware of the recent invasion of The United Kingdom Of Britain. The region is an ally, and as such I have voted in favour of its liberation.
Secondly, while I do not reject resolutions outright for not being legally accurate with my personal experience of English law, the Habeas Corpus Act would massively limit the ability of judicial action within any WA member state. There has been a strong rejection in delegate circles of this resolution and I am yet to receive any correspondence in favour. I also did not support the proposal for this bill. Furthermore, my vote is inconsequential given its timing, as the resolution looks to have been rejected in a landslide.
Quelesh has really annoyed some of the active nations over at the GA. It's no great shock this (3rd version?) of habeus corpus has been voted down.
Glad to see the occupation of the united.kingdon of britain has been routed. May I suggest building an embassy to show solidarity with the once abused region.
Once the liberation has passed, that is what I shall do. I had previously requested embassies but aborted when the invasion took hold
sorry for the lack of updates over the regional football tournament the first games will happen sometime this week, look out for results.
Oooh, look what I can do!
http://www.nationstates.net/nation=hirota/detail=factbook/id=main
Aaah, awesome!
That Sh*t Cray!
Feeling very patriotic these days :)
Just a quick one to say that as a true patriot, I've had an excellent weekend. God save the Queen
With Andy Murray out in the quarters of the French Open and England winning the cricket series against the West Indies what are peoples opinions on England's chances in the Euros or (and more importantly in my opinion) the England rugby teams chances against South Africa in their coming tour?
England's Euro chances hinge on how often we play Welbeck in my opinion. If he doesn't play at all, we could win. As for the rugby, you are right, Wilkosaurus that rugby is more important than football (although wrong that the upcoming tour is more important than the Euros), I have every confidence that the newly rejuvenated side will do the nation proud.
For the euros I would suggest a quater final beating by the hands of Spain will be Englands downfall although I shall have crossed fingers to be proven wrong.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! NUMBER 4!!!!!!!!!!
As far as football is concerned, I think we'd be doing well just to get past the group stages. As far as groups go it's definately an easier one, but I foresee a lot of goal-less draws.
And why wouldn't we want to be playing Welbeck? A better choice than Carrol or Defoe in my opinion, puts in the work that man. Maybe not so experienced internationally but when you're clocking hours for Man U then that's got to count for something. :o
We in South Oxfordshire disagree with that analysis of Welbeck. He's spent a season playing 30 games for a top, top team and managed 9 goals. That's a disgraceful return, and given the inevitable step up in quality in international football, I can't see him performing. He's also really boring to watch, no flair, and more arrogant than any player at his level. I think if the team is built around Carroll, he'll perform at least as well as Welbeck, and he has more potential.
***WA UPDATE***
Just a quick one to say I've voted in favour of appellate rights. It makes sense, and we like our freedoms in England, and South Oxfordshire.
I understand where you're coming from in respect to his goal-scoring record, ultimately a poor performance. But he's definately good to watch, that arrogance is very important for a striker. To have the cheek to try skills and take people on is what we need. I should confess, as a Liverpool fan myself, I think Carrol shouldn't even be in the team. He has the potential of a wet mop. Ultimately though, not much can be said about England, which in turn speaks volumes.
Besides, playing to fit Carrol means longs balls and stuff in the air, which is crap. We need to keep it on the floor and utilise our nippy wingers and solid midfield.
So, has anybody else started making use of their factbook? 'twould be interesting to know more about those nations I spy o- erm... ahem!... have the pleasure of sharing the region with :)
I agree with Rhanukhan. I have updated my factbook and I urge you all to do the same!
Assembled with Dot's Region Saver.
