The land was eerily quiet, making not a sound as Aarde observed it. The once-lively nation of orange juice worshippers and plup fanatics was reduced to a desolate wasteland, with the occasional rat scurrying through the faded orange landscape. Aarde walked through fields of what once were home to thriving orange trees and vibrant colors, surveying the devastation. What caused the destruction of Orangia is still not known to the few who survive, but it could be nothing good.

"Well," Aarde said, finally. "This place is still desolate."

As Aarde walked along what was once the main path towards the capital of Orangia, they felt a disturbing squish under their feet. They quickly stepped back out of disgust, and realised they had just stepped in a nasty patty, currently made up of a dilapidated McDonald's meal. A rat adorned with a golden crown labeled "Bungerbarn" in faded text scurried around nearby.

Aarde hurried along after this, stopping only to remember the place that was once their home. It was a tragic story, really, and even thinking about it brought back times when he had friends and family. The good old times.

But those times were gone, and now the most important thing to do was survive.

After walking for what seemed like an hour, but was realistically more like an hour, Aarde saw a building off in the distance. The faded yellow arches stood like pillars of destruction over the wasteland, casting an evil-seeming shadow over the landscape.

The sight brought tears to Aarde's eyes.

They stared at the seventeen-story building for a while before deciding that they should look for food inside the building. Walking towards it gave them a feeling of fear. Who knows what lies behind the gates of the ever-growing company? Aarde thought of the pain and misery it had brought to their nation.

While walking towards the building, it only seemed to grow in size. The rest of the building was hidden from their view, but now they were closer, they could see the true magnitude of the building. Its walls stretched as far as you could see, and if one were to look at it from a side view, one would not be able to see it in its entirety.

A shiver ran through Aarde.

They looked closer at the building and noticed a door, slightly elevated from the ground. After walking towards it they jiggled the handle, and to their surprise, it wasn't locked.

Aarde was hesitant to open the door.

President Bai sat up in bed, surprised to find himself shrouded in darkness. He opened his curtains, which were usually opened by his servants. He reached for the pistol stashed in his pillow and loaded it, cautiously stepping out of his room. Everything was out of the ordinary. The hallway was empty, and so was his small dining room, besides a pile of dishes in the sink. Out of the ordinary. Suddenly he heard footsteps, and he twirled around, shooting wildly. Bang, bang, bang. He heard a few voices cursing in what sounded like Covali and Aberch, then everything went black.

Aarde waited for a few seconds, deciding whether or not to open it. She pushed it slightly, and it creaked open, revealing a pitch black room. She swore she heard a screech coming from deep inside the darkness, and was paralyzed in fear.

“Hello?” she called out into the dark building, then cursed her stupidity. She knew from the horror films she watched to never make yourself known. Stupid, she thought. She recalled stories from her childhood that used to give her nightmares, of the necromantic sands of Osiris, grasses of Lazarus, and the blooming flower of Balder known to raise the dead. Just stories, she told herself, but didn’t quite believe it. On cold nights, when she would wander into a local bar, she heard more stories. These always sounded real, that lovely folks would fall silent, and a month later, would be snatched by the hands of death. That they would stay for maybe a day, or a week, or a month, but would always come back. But never the same. They were stripped of a core piece of their identity, and they never stayed back for very long.

DesolateÂ…

Aarde heard a gravelly voice in her head, reminding her of where she was. She then felt hands wrap around her body, and felt her being pulled into the room. She flailed, but to no avail. She flew through the air, hitting the wall with a thud. She felt the wind knocked out of her chest,, and she felt like it would never come back.

EmptyÂ…

There was the voice again. This time Aarde listened closer. It didnÂ’t sound like the lifeless murmurs of a zombie. It sounded like death itself. The desolate emptiness. And the room suddenly brightened, slightly, revealing a spring. Next to it were plants, the sands of a beach, and a blue flower. The sound of the spring echoed in her mind, splash, splash, splash, drops of water meeting each other.

SummerÂ…

A metalic sweet scent was hanging in the air - thick, but not to the point of being stuffy - and Aarde's eyes widened. Panicked, angry, and curious thoughts flung inside their mind, "Is this what they were making the factories for? How many people knew about this? How long have these been here?" These thoughts were dealt with disappeared, as the world in front of them was a prison kind and forgiving place - a place where those without a home could shelter, where those with fears could calm, where those with worries could lay on the floor and take a nap - as it was a trap paradise.

While walking through the fields full of the fallen flowers and trees, Aarde could hear the screams of the damned laughter of loved ones. Oh how long it had been before they had heard that sweet sound. It was like a ringing in your ears, that wouldn't go away no matter how-... like a nectar made of pure bliss. Happy thoughts. Happy thoughts.

Aarde came to a locked gate - i mean a happy little cottage - and knocked on the door. They could hear somebody scream "HEL" - say "coming right over!" through the bars... windows, i meant windows.

The cottage gate swung open. Gate? No... door. It's a door.

The cottage door swung open. A frightfu- friendly face gree- screamed... greeted them. "What is wrong with me?" Aarde thought, before quickly adding, "Nothing is wrong. Everything is fine."

"Help m-" No. "Hello, my friend!" The stranger said to Aarde.

"Uhm... What is going on?"

"Nothing. Save yourself." No. "Nothing, come in for some pie! It's just coming out of the oven!" Aarde stepped through the gate- cottage doorway, and it slammed shut- closed behind them. The gate was locked.

The stranger signaled Aarde to follow them through their cottage. Their prison cell. This is a prison cell. You are in a prison cell. This is a prison. This is a prison. Get out. Get out. Get out. Get out.

The kind man motioned Aarde to follow them on a tour of their cottage. It was a cozy place. A bedroom small but not constricting, a bathroom with all of the needed equipment, kitchen with an oven. Or, well, a box with the word "oven" written on it in what seems to be chalk. Strangely, however, is that there wasn't a single window throughout the entire prison cell.

The man sat down at the table. There wasn't another chair. Or a pie, for that matter. There wasn't another person in the room. Or a room, for that matter.

Where had he gone? What was the smell in the air? Why did Aarde's mouth taste like pennies?

Anybody have any idea on how to recover from the summer lull? The map is in the making and might be released like tonight (imagine that lol), so rp should be picking up.

Speaking of which, are we going to come back from this hiatus? I think weÂ’re just waiting for a response from Leapcor about negotiations.
