Hey what's with the embassy closure

Callista has fallen far below the unwritten standards - both socially and diplomatically - that Sophia expects of its embassy partners.

BOPDR's next debate will be on truth. It will be at 9:00 AM AEST Sunday, or 6:00 PM EST (I think. That could be CST) Saturday. The specific topic should be 'Is truth objective or subjective?'. If you would like to sign up to participate in the debate, telegram me about it, and I will add your name to the list.

Are you sure?

Aw 😢

is this region being revived?

😮

Green Bois wrote:is this region being revived?

I wouldn't say that it ever died it just had some inactivity after nationstates itself was dead for a bit

I didn't realize it was in need of being reviving, given there is still activity going on here.

I am glad to see this action being taken!

Sophia lives

Taray wrote:I am glad to see this action being taken!

The embassy wasn't particularly active, anyway. The amount of embassy posts Callista sent to our RMB wasn't so much.....

Nothing much going on, but residents are fairly upset over the “eco-friendly” WA legislation that’s been dropping and crippling our regional stats.

Howdy. Used to play a bunch of NationStates, decided to start fresh because I forgot all of my old information. Probably all deactivated now either way. Sophia seems like a decent spot.

Splitra wrote:hey do u know how to change ur flag? i mean idk if you know how to change ur name

You can't change the name of a nation, no matter what. You can change the name's capitalization in the Settings page though, because internally, the nation name (all lowercase) is the ID the site uses for most things pointing to you.

A lot of discussions about whatever subjects (eg. literature, politics) tends to bring many people to the conversation. From personal experience, using rhetoric from INGSOC fron Orwell's 1984 endears many people to the RMB!

Why does somebody always have to keep turning up for votes before I do to vote in the opposite direction that I do? Is this nudge theory gone mad? :P

If I'm on the phone, I usually don't look at how our WA delegate voted, I usually read it and treat the WA like a Model (insert organization that cannot be named).

Plan to vote for the one you don't want to vote for, turn up to vote, leave without voting, and keep doing it again. Then, your side will win.

Hey guys, I'm back! Again. Sorry about CTEing for nine days, I was just getting kinda bored of NationStates. I'll be around sometimes, but definitely not as active as I used to be. That's about all. Thanks!

Does this game count? It's probably The Sims 3 if by video game you mean using an app. I'm so old you had to use a CD to play a game.

I remember using the floppy disks to install games in Windows 95.

Meiara wrote:I remember using the floppy disks to install games in Windows 95.

I remember using Windows 95! (My husband decided to gift me a computer for my birthday in October 1995.) I got internet access pretty much right off the bat, as well. But I was at university, didn't really have time for games, and preferred Flash and the PlayStation when I got mine after graduating in '97 anyway. (My first FIFA was FIFA Football 98 and my first GTA was GTA3, both on PlayStation platforms.) I vaguely remember most of the PC games being on CD-ROMs, though.

My mum never had a television. No wonder - her husband (my dad) thought she was too poor and too boring and eventually married, erm, a devout Christian from the better part of London. Although there are plenty of people today who say that EVERYWHERE in London is better than Croydon.

My half-sisters, aged seven and ten in those days, enjoyed the wonders of Windows 3.0 shortly after it came out in the summer of 1990. (It was after the World Cup final.) Strictly speaking, their dad - aka my dad - and their mum also had access to the computer. They waited until Christmas '95 for the internet, although largely because the old clanger served them well for half a decade.

Their mum's mum, who is still alive today at the age of almost-95 (!), dropped a good amount of money on a System 6 Mac back in 1988, when Manuel Noriega was credible, Kylie Minogue was famous for exactly two things, and nobody could use the internet. (She didn't win internet access until Netscape arrived.) She has been a reluctant Mac fangirl to this day.

Same, I also remember Windows 95, we had just moved to the United States after the U.S.S.R. collapsed (I'm pretty sure it's because of how bad the economy was and how little my Papa's wage was.) Anyway, we were living in my cousin's house and I remember that they had a Windows 95 that was for their mama's work, and she would let us get on and play Doom 95.
