Terms of Service

In this overview, Calamity Refuge is an entity located in British Columbia, and owned by the Arch-Administrator. A "user" is an individual with a Discord account. A "guild" is a Discord chat server. An "operator" is a user that is contextually operating Dot's commands and functions within or outside of a guild. Use of this software accepts the following terms:

Dot is a Discord bot, provided by Calamity Refuge. As a service thereof, Dot and its operators are subject to Calamity Refuge's Code of Conduct. Dot's operation must abide this Code of Conduct, such that:

  • Operators may not use Dot in bad faith or in any capacity which harasses other users, nor may Dot be used to posts content of a pornographic, disturbing, or disgusting nature.
  • Operators may not use Dot in any capacity which discriminates against others, including but not limited to race, gender identity, orientation, and disability.
  • Operators may not use Dot to link to or promote piracy sites, threaten of violence, mediums by which users may be doxxed, or hate groups.
  • Operators may not use Dot as a vehicle for commercial advertisement, such as requesting cash-equivalent items in exchange for anything.

Refuge Administration will retract Dot from guilds which violate this policy, and bar operators from the ability to use Dot's commands and functions. Violations of this policy may be reported via the report command, or by contacting any member of the Calamity Refuge staff.

This software is provided as-is, with no warranties of any kind expressed or implied. In no event shall Calamity Refuge or its staff be held liable for claim, infringement, or damage of any kind arising from the use of this software. Should any degree of these terms be illegal or unenforceable, the remainder of the text shall continue to apply. While donations may be accepted as a gratuity or offset for server costs, this software is provided as a free service where no component requires a subscription or premium fee to fully use or access. Calamity Refuge reserves the right to discontinue this service at any time.

Meta-data is collected regarding Dot's command usage, total guild count, and the total volume of users served. This data helps determine the types of commands that are desired for future development, whether Dot's commands are being maliciously used, as well as anticipating hardware needs based on growth and usage trends. No data of any kind, either regarding individual users or individual guilds, is personally identifying.

Data regarding command settings and preferences is saved by the operator's Discord ID and/or their guild's ID, and is retained for the duration the settings are needed to perform the operator's requests. This data includes, for example, the text and Discord user IDs necessary to process reminders, or the operator's nation of reference in the timer command. Similarly, information is stored about a guild whenever a guild's administrator sets preferences with commands in Dot's "Admin" category, and that data is retained as long as the command is active, or as long as Dot remains in the guild.

Commands which store data have built-in options which allow such data to be removed. On commands which can be enabled or disabled, the controls to remove information appear adjacent to the setting which first activated them. For some commands, information is automatically removed whenever it is deactivated. If an operator wishes to have any data deleted where they cannot adequately locate these settings, they may contact user lucabaduka on Discord from the account whose data they wish to have removed. If you have any questions or concerns relating to Dot, you can email me directly at luca@calref.ca or use the report command.
