"Aww, don't worry - you're all number one in my heart!" Dyllon M. Corleone said as a band of dejected athletes returned to Zizou City. "You did everyone proud, and everyone is proud of you :)" He narrowly dodges a soccer ball.

"No! Shame! Shame! We were garbage! Garbage! Death! Despair! Destruction!" he tackles a teammate and holds him in a chokehold before being wrestled off.

"Guys, we're on television...besides, I told you you'd get disqualified if you started playing with the hockey sticks."

"No, you said it was like hockey, but on grass. You didn't say anything about kicking!" said a goalkeeper.

"Nah, it wasn't that. Our goalie was Testlandian cheese!"

"I resent that! You're just a tennis player!" A brawl began to break out. Then a vase broke out. Then a window, a piano followed. Someone drew a sword.

A sweating Dyllon jerked the camera away. "This is so embarrassing! I promise this does not reflect Dyllonia in the slightest, we're better then this! We're just emotional, okay??"

The programming switches to a popular slice-of-life cartoon about a deer named Wimbledon and little skunk named Rose who go on adventures in the wilderness together. There is also a little birdie named Sweetness, your nation's citizens would love it. Your approval ratings might increase if you imported it. Just saying.

Athletic Coach Nareene GoHandler lands with the Athletic Team in the Airport, and steps out of the plane to greet her cheering fans. She waves the gold medal her team received. The clapping, screaming and whistling deafens any attempt at words.

She drops her hand and smiles at the crowd to calm down. Gowan Darnell, a news reporter, thrusts a mike at her. "This is such a great day for you. How would you sum up the event?"

"This would not have been possible wthout our great team behind me," she answers modestly, "and, of course, the tremendous support I've been receiving all along from all of you, Delta Vegans. We fought hard and we won."

As her words are broadcast instantly on TV accross the country, the fans, watching on their smartphones, burst again into cheers.

"If you may excuse me..." a round, shiny, bouncing robot tries to make its way through the crowd. It bears the insignia of the President's Office. When it reaches the Athlete, it flashes its lights and says to her:

"Miss GoHandler, you and your team are invited to a formal reception with President Small Brother tomorrow evening. A state vehicle will be escorting you to the reception hall from your hotel at 18:30."

The robot retreats, then activates its flight blades and rises away.

Hello friends! The people of Floofybit have decided to put on the first ever Floofybitian Culinary Baking Competition (FCBC) and wants you, the people of Refugia to join! The bake off will consist of two events, the Preheat and the Final. Whoever wins the Preheat will get an advantage for the Final but the people who score the lowest will be eliminated. The competition will be scored randomly by three judges (1 to 10) and I haven't decided if there will be a reward! Just tell me if you would like to join and we will go from there! Just remember, there may be a twist!

Porthosia's Minister of Foreign Affairs has elected to send his grandmother to participate in this competition!

Welcome! Many of us are gay (or bi, or trans, or some other flavour of LGBTQ+) but not everyone is.

A small room stands in front of you and being the best baker in Refugia. Pristine white tables sprawled about the room, a row to your left, a row to your right. The floor is peach like sand, and gave a clomping sound, the illusion you were really on sand. The walls were sky blue, lined with trinkets hung on the walls. Giant pink seashells, anchors, life jackets, surfboards, arrayed near the tables. A distinct smell of tropics combines with the distant sound a tropical music. It was like a beach paradise, just, without the enormous ocean, and the sand had tables with ting ovens. The calming sound stopped, and was replaced with the sound of repetitive conga noise. It felt tropical, but the music was exciting. And that's when the judge walked out.

"Welcome, welcome bakers! I'm Fennex Dreyr and I'll be your host. I hope you all are excited to begin the competition! Alright, settle down. I know we haven't seen any of your faces here before, so let me go through how it works. We begin with a preheat, an easier, qualifying round. After that round we'll judge your dish. Don't go slacking off though, because only the best dishes will make it to the finals. And remember, the winner of the preheat will get an advantage in the finals. We'll start the competition with a cake. Make sure it's decorated AND tastes good. Over there is a pond. In the pond are magnetic fish, you need to grab those fishing poles and fish up a fish. On that fish will be the flavour of cake you need to make. You'll have 24 hours so get ready. GO GO GO!!!"

Tell me what flavour you got and describe your cake the best you can. (Your flavour can't be the same as someone else)

As Kazuki has been trained in the art of fishing throughout her entire childhood we would have the 3 fish needed by 5 minutes

she would get the flour eggs and other materials for decorating and making the cake

by the time she had get everything 30 minutes would have gone by.

She would slice up the fish into very small chucks

she would make the cake batter lemongrass based to go with the fish

She would then mix the fish chucks with the batter and but it in the oven making sure she put NON STICK SPRAY into her pan's beforehand

She then went on to making the fondant for the cake and started to mold clear fondant into a sort of bowl shape

She would shape the fondant and bigger pieces using rice crispy pieces.

The fondant would be different colors and would just barely have some coconut flavour.

by now 3 hours have passed

the cake layers would be done and she would take it out of the oven and pop it out of the pan

she would have forgotten the buttercream filling so she would rush to the pantry and grab the buttercream a blue teal coloring and bits of seaweed

she would crush up the seaweed and put it into the buttercream and stir it with a mixer

while that was mixing she would gather the finished decorations

the buttercream would be done and she would add it in between the layers

she would then cut the cake to make it all circular with the base being the biggest

she would then add the fondant to the side to mimic a sort of beach with different shades of fondant go darker from the bottom up until it would get to a sandish color

she would smooth out the fondant to make sure everything looked nice and add some rice crispy/fondant shaped fish and add them to the side

she would start adding the Materials to make it look like the bottom of the sea on top of the cake and add four plam tress to each of the "corners"

with all of the decorating almost done the time would be 12 hours

she would take a small break and drink some coffee and clean up the area

she would then adjust the underwater decorations on the top of the cake and add coconuts to the palm tree that would be outside of the bowl

with everything else ready she would add the fish with clear plastic holders to make it seem like they where swimming and finally add the bowl

she would make sure it would seem like the palm trees are holding the bowl in

she would do a once over to make sure everything looked fine and move it carefully to the large plate and put the oer over it and press the final button

the time would be 14:36 hours in total was spent making the cake

She would say that the cake flavour by itself is lemongrass with the magnetic fish (hopefully trout)

the buttercream is seaweed flavour

and the fondant around the cake and the decorations are coconut flavour but only slightly as I didnt put in much so it wouldn't overpower the taste of everything else

(also please excuse any spelling mistake or grammar this took me awhile to make)

"...you'll have 24 hours, so get- hold on, who is that? Sir?"

All eyes turned as Fennex addressed the stranger who was presently rummaging through the pantry, pulling down cake ingredients. Blue jeans, boots, flannel, and a grin half-turned to face them. "Oh, hi. Keith Salzman, how's you doing?"

"Wha- don't these studios have security? How did he get in here?" Seemingly unaware of Fennex's protests, Keith continued opening cartons of eggs, looking for the good ones. "Sir, you're no-"

"Please, just Keith. Sir was my father's name." A fit of suppressed laughter ensued as he loaded a shop cart with bags of flour and sugar.

"Where did you even GET that? S- Keith, you're not on the list, you can't just walk in here a-"

"Ah, don't worry, I heard the whole thing. Preheat the oven, make the cake, right? Easy, don't worry about me- yowch!" He'd been testing the knives. They were sharp. "Ooh, that stings."

The contestants could only watch the exchange unfold, Fennex struggling to get through. "No, sir, you have to regist- we only have so many slots, this is a very prestigious competition and everyone has signed the TV waivers, you just can't show up like this an-"

"We're gonna be on TV? Oh man, that sounds great, sign me up, you don't gotta worry about me causing a fuss there, Mr. Dryer." Finding a glass, Keith poured a finger of vanilla extract and pounded it. "Ooh yeah, that'll do."

"It's not Mr. Dry..." Fennex scratched his head in resignation. "Fine, Keith, but you haven't picked a station, you don't even have an apron. And you don't know your flavour yet, how can you be selecting your ingredients?"

"Oh, that's no problem," Keith reassured. "I already got one." Sorting his cart out, he hoisted a fish with "VANILLA" stamped on it. "I've been here all morning. You gotta be early when you're fishing, it takes time to make a catch."

"You've... been here all day." Fennex sighed. "I should have you thrown out."

As though suddenly remembering something, Keith continued, "Oh, yeah, and I should ask, how did you magnetize the fish, anyway? 'Cause that seemed kinda messed up to me."

"You know what, it really is... Fine, you're in. Everybody, you've got 24 hours to make the most stunning cake. And... GO!"

Three hours later, Fennex spoke worryingly to a producer while he watched Keith decorate. "I just don't know about this guy. Tell me truthfully, is this a bit? Did one of the TV people plant him?"

"Nobody has owned up to it, but we'll keep looking."

"I mean, I spoke to him an hour ago, he just wanted to talk about darts. Not baking. Not even a real sport!" He shook his head. "I don't know what we'll do if he's good."

Keith gave a full arm wave, scattering loose flour on the station next to his. "Uh, Mr. Dryer, I gotta cake here for you!"

The cake was wide, at least ten inches across and three layers high. Ceramic-white frosting adorned the outside, little swirls and spikes creating uneven texture, and a raised border of icing from a star tip surrounded the top edge, gradually increasing and decreasing in height. The top center of the cake was occupied by a rendition of a vanilla plant in green, white, and black icing.

"I don't get why you gave everyone so long to bake. These things'll dry out 'f you take that long with them."

Cutting in for a slice revealed the three layers, the cake flaking off where it's cut. The scent of vanilla from the cake and frosting was strong, but the layers were separated with a light chocolate frosting - "To even it up," Keith explained. With nothing but reluctance, Fennex had to admit that it was at least a real entry. "Well Keith, I must say, this is..."

Tofi looked around the room at the professional looking competitors with their "kitchen utensils" and their "clean white aprons" and "obvious knowledge about how to turn the oven on" and just like that all naieve optimism was gone. She instantly knew she was our of her depth. "Just stay calm Tofi".

Taking a deep breath she heads quickly to the pond and grabs a rod. "Fishing. Well at least this is one part of the baking process I do know how to do." She looks into the pond only to be hit by another wave of panic. "Look at all those fish. There are so many possible ingredients in there." She casts the rod into the pond. "I've only been baking for two weeks. What if I don't know what the ingredient is. We might not get it in Tovenia. What if I do know what it is but don't know how to use it." She's caught something and raises the rod. "It will take a miracle if it is something....."

She grabs the fish and reads it... and her eyes light up. Pineapple! One of the two cakes she has ever "conquered" was her Pineapple upside down cake! What are the odds of that.

She skips over to the ingredients shelves with a new found air of belief in her step. "I might not make a complete fool of myself after all. Now what is in it again?"

Returning to her station she sets to work not looking up again until it is in the oven. Then the nervous wait. Why does everyone else seem so calm?

Finally the timer goes off and she wakes from her nervous daze. She reaches up, removes it from the oven, turns it out... and it looks alright. The cake seems soft and sticky and importantly cooked and the rows of glistening yellow pineapple rings set into the top of cake still look sweet and juicy. The colour reminds her of the Tovenian flag. In a moment of inspiration she grabs a blow touch and scorches 3 fleur de lis onto the pineapple to make it a real taste of home. She breaths a sigh of relief and looks at her creation with pride. It's cooked and it looks down right, well average. "My best bake yet!"

Niamh takes a deep breath. "Cake. Cake is fine. A good solid traditional cake. I can work with that.” She takes a few moments to get her bearings and slowly follows the other competitors to the pond. She isn’t too worried about the fishing part but the thought of random flavours is putting her off slightly. “What if they’ve put some weird flavours in there? I can’t work with spinach-flavoured cake” she says under her breath. As she settles into her fishing spot, Niamh glances over and sees Kazuki pull out the lemongrass. This does not help. She starts planning out the spinach cake in her head, trying to imagine how the hell she could pull that particular cake off.

Finally, a tug on the line pulls her out of this planning spiral. As she grabs hold of the fish and turns it over “Cinnamon, bloody cinnamon.” It isn’t quite spinach but Niamh is still unimpressed. Her last cinnamon cake had felt like munching on the raw bark. She looks around trying to work out if she can just throw it back stealthily and get another.

One of the film crew decides to approach at this exact moment so she turns the fish to the camera and smiles before walking towards the pantry. She is talking to her self at this point, attempting to convince herself that this one will be different. Standing in the middle of the pantry she spies an ingredient that brings back a long-forgotten memory. Orange and cinnamon lightly balanced over an earthy, comforting sponge. “Yes!” she cries as she scrabbles to get hold of the buckwheat flour, fresh oranges and cinnamon sticks. She’s so excited she nearly forgets the other ingredients and hurries back to the pantry to retrieve them.

This is the most animated she has ever been for baking. Whizzing around, she actually seems to be enjoying the precision of the task. Previously she had struggled with the lack of flexibility but now Niamh is thriving under it. The cake comes out of the oven looking perfect: moist, browned evenly and with a light hint of cinnamon wafting across the room.

She has the orange zest icing ready to go long before the cake is cool enough and paces impatiently in front of her station. Niamh carefully sandwiches the filling between the 4 layers and pipes the frosting spiral from the centre all the way to the bottom of the cake.

As a final trick, she pulls the bright blue sugar out of the oven, stained and dry out to give a unique sparkle before using a stencil to replicate the Lancasterian Star.

“Huh, this might actually work out.” Niamh says in between bites of the offcuts. The nutty, earthy buckwheat pairs with the cinnamon and reminds her of huddling near the fire throughout the winter.

Miss Violet Tort approaches the pond with trepidation. "I have no idea how to catch fish," she metters beneath her breath.

"Don't worry," whispers her aid Barry. "The fish are magnetic. Here, take this rod and just put it near one."

She does so. A fish swims at her rod, lazily at first, then attaches itself to the rod. She picks it up.

"Apple Pie," reads the note in the mouth of the fish.

"OMG. How do I make an apple pie? I only know how to bake a Pizza!"

"It's easy," says Jerry, "a piece of cake. Here, let me show you."

He leads her to a table, then sends Barry with a list of ingredients.

Barry brings him apples, cinnamon, sugar, flour and everything else necessary for the pie.

Miss Tort and her team start preparing the pie according to his instructions.

When the time is up, they have a juicy, fresh-looking pie set on the table.
