Hey Refugia! We've got a new proposal coming up in the General Assembly, titled "Repeal Paid Leave Act". You can read the proposal here and you can find the debate thread here.

This proposal marks the third time this particular author has attempted to ensure paid leave and job security for workers in member states. The first attempt failed due to some significant shortcomings it had that went unaddressed in the drafting stage, while the second attempt passed comfortably...but we'll get to it later. First, let's dive into this proposal.

Speaking from a detached point-of-view, this makes sense. The target resolution does have some glaring flaws with it, particularly with Clause 4 which leaves room for employers to fire workers giving notice of their upcoming requests for paid leave, as it provided no protection for the intermediate period between the request of paid leave and when the paid leave actually starts. Clause 5 of the target resolution can similarly be exploited by crafty employers to not provide financial compensation to workers on leave themselves, but rather place it on any particular worker's first member state of citizenship, potentially harming developing nations by burdening them with something they get no benefits from. I do believe that the argument the Appalled clause makes is kinda nitpicky and poses a relatively unrealistic scenario; I don't believe that anyone would really going to tank their own business by keeping its size limited so that they can continue to get comparatively meagre compensation from the member states. So yeah apart from that, this repeal makes a convincing enough argument for me to be in favor of this...

...but then we wouldn't be accounting for the unique circumstances surrounding it. As you might've already noticed, both the target resolution and the repeal is written by the same author. In fact, this is part of a self-repeal-and-replace, something that has probably never happened before. As to why the author would do this;

I'm...kinda torn on this? Like the repeal makes sense, and it certainly looks better than the alternative out there. However, this feels a bit egregious, even considering all other external factors in. If you put me at gunpoint and asked me what I really feel, I would say that I lean slightly in favor of this and would recommend similarly to anyone else. But it's an extremely close call.

I'm possibly the most eco-friendly puppet of Tinhampton - the other author this person was talking about - that she can be bothered to think of. For what it's worth, I opposed the second PLA and supported its repeal so much that I even actively campaigned for the current version a few days ago! XD

The first half of Final Fantasy 15 is really good, though I found the last half changes things and it's not as fun. A lot of the other games can be good at points, but they age pretty badly.

Kinda tangent, but what's your favourite pizza

I don't eat pizza very often anymore, but when I used to eat meat and dairy, I preferred Hawaiian style pizza as well.

Now, there's a pizza place downtown that does a nice vegan pizza with a chipotle sauce and I like having it with spinach, peppers, jalapenos, mushrooms, and onions :D

I'm not veggie but my favourite pizza is pineapple, spinach, mushroom and pepper - it's like a sweet salad on a pizza. Delicious!

Personally, I don't like Hawaiian pizza. I tried it once and I don't think the sweetness matches with the rest of the pizza. However! If you or anyone else (as I have seen here) love it, I will defend it. Heck, I will gladly eat a whole one just to spite those who openly hate and condemn it. >:D That said...
