Question of the day

Would you rather have a?

1. big country but you are constantly in war.

2. small country but you are in a big debt

Sankaradomin

Small country in debt, easily. Debt is a condition heavily created by, controlled by, and maintained by mankind, and debt on the scale of countries is almost ridiculous to the point of being ineffectual anyway. War takes lives of the people. Country-scale debt can easily be overcome, and, with aide, self sufficiency work, and time, can be fixed. Lives lost to war cannot be fixed.

In re: the new WA Health Bill, I like all of it in spirit, until you get to provision 2, that demands the provision of all medications required. That seems fine, until you look at the special exceptions, which do not allow for the downfalls of Capitalism, and the predation of foreign countries not releasing a medicine to the world at anything but a horrifyingly steep price.

In a proper world, there would be no problem with "Give people medicine." In a Capitalist scourged world, this bill could force impoverished countries to purchase medicine at astronomical price because the WA deemed it necessary and in demand. Basically, very simple economic warfare. An America would 100% use it for that purpose and offer loans to subvert and shackle a foreign nation.

I suggest we vote against said bill for that purpose, or suggest an amendment that any medicine deemed for such need to be open-sourced, or steeply cut in price/price capped.

I mostly agree with Sankaradomin, but would like to ask in debt to whom? Small nations that are indebted to other larger countries tend to have a history of either ceasing to be or being colonized. If the debt leads to war anyway, the first choice is best but if the debt is to interntional banks or private citizens it is still problematic but less so than the threat of invasion.

There are over 4000 types of potatoes……HOW DOES IT ALWAYS GET BACK TO POTATOES

An'eth'ara, na lethal'len!

I have great news for you, the flurry of simplebots you all saw flying through the skies earlier this week weren't there to kill you (despite much news to the contrary), but actually to establish a new geographical survey of the archipelago. And, because they've finally returned back to the Admin Tower, we've got a few new announcements.

First off, Everetunga-Hari, Axolotlta, Broadstairs, and Remnants Of The Pacific have all been added to the map! While we weren't looking this month, it turns out a lot of people have moved in, some even next door to the Alanori forest. You'd think I would have caught that one.

Secondly, the nation of Elenaraghaenaris, a long-standing member of the community, disappeared some time ago. We sent the simplebots out to search for them, but alas, no luck.

Does all this information make you excited about macroeconomics? If not, does it make you excited about the regional map? If you're a member state (World Assembly nation in the region for more than 7 days), you can join this cool kids club and get your own spot! Just click on this dispatch and send in the application at the bottom!

Definitely the ocean. It's part of the world on which we live, we should know more about it, and what is within it, than we know now.

Plus, doing so will probably advance both fossils exploration, and space-use technology anyway.

Hi there Refugia! Some of you here might know me as Moon and I've been a part of this wonderful community for checks calendar for six months now. I'm here to declare my candidacy for Councilor of World Assembly Affairs and maybe convince y'all to vote for me on the way.

The World Assembly was one of the first things in this game that really attracted me and I've spent almost the entirety of my time here debating the various proposals on the Security Council subforums, as well as writing voting recommendation dispatches and guiding new authors in The South Pacific. I have authored two SC resolutions (SC#356 "Commend HumanSanity" and SC#365 "Commend Pope Hope") myself, although I readily admit that I'm not very much experienced with the General Assembly part of the game. It will be a new thing to experience and I welcome the opportunity to familiarize myself with it.

I really liked the work our previous Councilor Sylh Alanor did in putting their initial thoughts on the RMB about a new proposal and starting up a conversation about it, while encouraging critical thinking without imposing their own feelings on the matter. I hope to continue the same thing; my goal here is to encourage meaningful discussions about the proposals coming up to vote. I feel like diversity of opinions is one of the greatest strength about a community and while we're often similar-minded about things here, seeing and discussing things from different perspectives helps up improve ourselves in the long-run.

I also plan to facilitate an environment that encourages people (particularly new players) to get involved with the World Assembly and hopefully end up meaningfully contributing to it. While it might look daunting at a first glance, with all the complex legal terms and ruleset in the GA and the contextual politics in the SC, the World Assembly at its core serves as a hub, a hub where similarly passionate players come together and have an overall fun time talking about the things they love. I feel like that vibe is the main thing to get and once you've managed to capture what truly makes the WA special from the other aspects of the game, you end up slowly falling in love and getting yourself really involved with it. It serves as a standing testament for how great of a positive impact a single player can have on this wider community if they wish so and I hope to impart this upon new players interested in the WA.

So yeah, that's my sales pitch. Hope y'all liked it and I'm open to answering any questions you might have regarding my campaign ^_^

Melee weapons, easily. They don't have near the maintenance cost of vehicles or the wall, and the guns will either run out of ammo or attract more zombies or both. Hiding is all or nothing either you succeed or die without the ability to impact which happens. Of course, you would still want to set up walls to create a safe house, but the main item would have to be melee weapons.

Silencers do remove some of the noise, but are still fairly noisy. Even if we grant video game level silencers, that just adds onto the level of maintenance required and doesn't change the limited amount of ammunition guns have compared to the longevity of melee weapons.
