You've already received our welcome telegram, which gives a lot of quality information, but I wanted to point a few things out real quick that might help you settle into the region a bit better. Refugia is part of a larger community named Calamity Refuge, or CalRef. We have a discord here: https://calref.network/chat/ and a forum here: https://calref.cc/index.php. If you'd like to be in a place where you can just chill and be around friendly people, those are the links for you. We host game nights and movie nights from the discord server, and have been recently making our way through the Studio Ghibli catalogue. On the forum we have RPs and spam games (not really related to NS).

Hoi Refugia! We've got a new thing in the Security Council coming up to vote titled "Commend Sacara" in a few hours. You can check out the proposal here and the debate thread here.

Commend Sacara seeks to celebrate the contributions of a well-known and respected Got Issues author playing the game for a relatively short time compared to the usual assortation of nominees we get here, "only" since 2014. They've authored a staggering 15 issues, a count which ranks pretty high up there among other Got Issues authors. They've also went above and beyond in providing helpful feedback to other promising issues authors in their quest to write more stuffs befit for our picky eyes and created the Sacara's Issues Hub, a neat little website that lets people view all the issues available in the game and vote for which one was the best they've encountered, in a way not dissimilar to the Best Nations Game from this year's April Fools. They've also been the host of two Horror Story Contests in 2018 and 2021, competitions that saw some really nice stories see the light of the day due to it by people.

Moving on to the resolution, it's...not good. I'm of the personal belief that we should treat Got Issues and roleplay C/Cs to a higher standard than we do for other communities due to these two being so much dependent of creativity and how much a player excels at expressing themselves. It doesn't really feel right to me that we should reward all of their efforts with a poorly written, rushed C/C that has little personality, which the resolution here is exactly that. It could be a lot more fleshed out in content (for example, the author only includes 5 out of 15 issues in it), it could be written with a lot of character sprayed across it and it could be really, really less bland. Some clauses (particularly the Observing clause) cites Commendable work but fails to explain why that's considered Commendable in nature, while others are just have bland writing (the Noting clause and its list is a good example) that you could snooze-read through. The most egregious thing about this is that this could be a lot more fleshed out and the author knows it too. But her response is, and I quote;

Which seems like a cop-out response to me and a major sign that it's a lazy badgehunt, a definite probability with this specific author considering their previous antics in the WA.

Overall, while Sacara can be considered Commendable, this resolution here doesn't really do justice to them. No dice for me.

There was this complicated website that basically got the issue number, and told you the effects for every choice.

idk but if I wanna make my nation good I'd rather just do the first option if I wanted to make a good nation, since it's always common sense and usually gets niceness up by a TON.

My social worker has notified me that tomorrow he and the entire staff of the association he works with will be on strike. I believe this is a general strike of social service providers, protesting poor conditions, underfunding and understaffing in our country's social services.

I just wrote my social worker an email, explaining in a few words how his visits and our chats are a beacon in the greyness of my everyday life and how they warm my heart, brighten my whole week and bring me joy and serenity.

He was delighted and thankful.

I really hope their struggle for reasonable conditions is successful, they deserve recognition for their good work.

I don't want to look like I'm ignoring this btw. This was extremely sweet of you and I'm happy you and your social worker can make each others' days better in these ways.

UPDATE: I just heard the strike is to protest violenece against medical, nursing and sipport staff. They are asking for better protection. This makes their struggle only more justified.
