hey guys my life isnt going to great right now ngl, any tips of how to stay in a good vibe and stuff during this time?

Sorry to hear you're going through it. I find the things that have most impact on my mood are regular sleep and getting outside if they're possible. If you're having trouble sleeping, rather than force it just tell yourself your only goal is to lie down with your eyes closed - conscious rest is still better for your brain and body than sitting up too late.

Quick things I do if I want to help lift a bad mood during the day include trying to think up a brand new swear word in 30 seconds, a 5 minute bad dancing break, or trying to come up with the silliest question I can (e.g. which Refugi would be best at pretending to be a leaf, and why?). Those don't solve the problems or make any long term impact, but they usually make me smile enough that I can get on with my day or task.

It’s not necessarily a huge mood lifter, but a weird trick I’ve found to alleviate anxiety for a bit is to immerse my hands in a bowl of warm water for a bit. It’s a weird trick but honestly it’s super helpful when I just feel overwhelmed from anxiety or stress. Plus you know the classics, like reading a nice book that I know I love, or drinking a nice cup of hot cocoa.

something I do is watch a YouTuber whose personality I really like - like Markiplier

like the other things people have said, it gets me going when I feel down; especially when they're reviewing something interesting or playing a really cool game

My old canon flag for my oldest nation, and really my dearest flag, was based on Australia's aboriginal flag. 'cuz it is the default flag and I was suuuper creative when I first joined NS. it looked really horrible lol

But someone was kind enough to remake it for me and it's just existed ever since as my default national flag

Hmm, in my puppet state I legalized anti-government underground radio stations and my patriotism rose 120%. Country over party I guess.

I am going to tell you 4 things that you could do. 1 Having a routine. Try to wake up at this time, it at this time go to sleep at this time, etc. 2 Having a pet. Doesn't matter if it's a goldfish a dog or an eagle, but something that distract you and be with you. 3 Working out. Doesn't matter if it's in the gym or at home, but it will make you happier and healthier. 4 Whatching anime. This or makes you better or gives you depression, depends of the anime, I recommend Naruto, One Piece, Dr. Stone or something wholesome.

I am back! I had some IRL things to deal with as well as having the flu and just could not be on for the past week. Things have calmed down now and I am ready to come back to be part of this amazing region!

Disappointing, I was meant to be going to visit my family who live in another country and my partner has tested positive for covid so we can't travel today.

Thankfully I'm negative and we got a full refund voucher from the airline so we can fly out next week instead once my partner is better though!

Yeah! I love canoeing. I paddled about 20 miles per day and then camped on the riverbank at night. Was pretty chilly but thankfully it didn’t snow much. I’d definitely recommend trying it if you ever get the chance! ^-^

I kayak rather than canoe but both are equally fun.

I guess you can get more kit in a canoe though.

Kayaking is fun too! And yeah, you can fit a lot more gear in a canoe, which is really nice for longer trips… plus you stay a lot drier in a canoe. I prefer kayaks for day trips though, as they are faster and have better maneuverability.

Howdy Refugia! It's time for a World Assembly discussion post. This one is on Repeal: "Institutional Psychiatry Act".

This repeal is a repeal of GA#140 because of its provision allowing criminals to freely communicate, which may have rather unfortunate consequences. The proposed replacement is here.

Admittedly, Morover does a relatively poor job explaining the consequences of this provision in the repeal itself. Many might not see why this is a problem; I was confused myself. Here is what Morover has said in the repeal thread:

In summary, any confidential information is free to be leaked by criminals with mental illnesses and the resolution allows criminals with mental illnesses to contact accomplices outside.

What are your thoughts?

Copying over some thoughts from the Discord discussion on this: What I have reservations about is the idea that the replacement is blanketing an inexact loss of rights to people charged with crimes. GAR#37's contribution here is basically a right to a swift trial, which is valuable, but people with criminal charges are often detained pending that trial. The replacement appears to be trying to set a standard of care and rights for people in mental health facilities, but people facing charges who are in one of these facilities can have a huge swath of their rights rescinded with no checks and balances - #37 only ensures fairness in the trial process. The hole observed in GAR#140 is significant, but only in a fairly narrow array of cases, and instances such as nuclear launch codes being stolen should only be life or death in the most incompetent of nations. What the replacement is doing is resolving this with a large, unspecified loss of rights rather than a series of specific checks to ensure it's only applied in those few cases - and I know we've gone after vague qualifiers like "determined to be a threat to national security" and all that, but anything is better than leaving the door open for anyone charged with a crime who has a mental illness - or is treated as though they do - to be mistreated by their government pending trial.
